Some routers use a name instead of a number

These hostnames normally resolve only while connected to the matching router. If one opens public search results or fails, use the numerical Default Gateway.

Find your Default Gateway

The operating system already knows where it sends traffic outside the local device. That route is the fastest way to identify the router without guessing.

WINDOWS

Run ipconfig

  1. Press Windows + R, enter cmd, and press Enter.
  2. Run ipconfig.
  3. Read Default Gateway under the active Wi-Fi or Ethernet adapter.
macOS

Open TCP/IP details

  1. Open System Settings and select Network or Wi-Fi.
  2. Open Details for the active connection.
  3. Choose TCP/IP and read the Router value.
iPHONE / iPAD

Read the Router field

  1. Open Settings and choose Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the information button beside the connected network.
  3. Find Router in the IPv4 Address section.
ANDROID

Open network details

  1. Open Wi-Fi and select the current network.
  2. Open Details or Advanced network information.
  3. Read Gateway; menu wording varies by manufacturer.
